Following an initiative from the German Rugby Union (DRV), two girls and eighteen boys, all of them between 14 and 17 years old, took on a day of referee training in Hannover. Guided through the day from Johnny Meersman (Belgium) and Bernd Gabbei (Germany), both IRB Trainers, the participants followed the IRB Level 1 match officiating program and had to solve a number of practical tasks.

From 1st to 4th of October 2009, Luxembourg hosted 5 delegates from Belgium, England, France, Portugal & Wales who attended the Trainer course whilst 22 delegates from Belgium, Czech Republic, Germany, Ireland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Scotland, Serbia, Spain, Sweden & Switzerland attended the Educator Course.

From July 31 to August 2 in the French National Rugby Center of Marcoussis (France) a Level 3 Coach and Match Official Accreditation Course has been organised by IRB and FIRA-AER.

On 20-22 January an IRB/FIRA-AER Educator Course was organized in cooperation with the FIR (Italian Rugby Union) near Rome in Italy.
