Gerasimov didn't look up to much against Portugal. Not sure what Galinovskiy's injury status is, but he's a better player.

What are the future fixtures for the Russian Bears besides the ENC fixtures...do they get to play Canada, USA and Japan this and next year??

I really think it is a damn disgrace that a country like Russia with all it's potential is kept down...or put it this way is severely handicapped by a mind-set that prevails in global rugby. They and others certainly deserve more attractive opportunities to play better and better challenges.

In the world cup I really enjoyed watching them and really believe there is huge potential there...much and much bigger than the scores showed...indeed to score 3 tries (nearly 4 to get a bonus point) against an outstanding Wallaby side (forget the margin) is fantastic and yes they should have beaten a good USA side as well...just the finishing touches were missing.

Is a game against the USA on the cards??? This might happen...lol http://www.kp.ru/daily/25836.3/2809165/

Nothing for Russia except ENC...at least Georgia get a few games outside, Canada and USA, Canada has a crack at a very different Italy but certainly not enough...how the hell can you grow or develope like this???

Olivier is right...tier 1's just play each other over and over again...nothing ever changes...come next WC we'll see the same scenario all over again.

I don't know if you seen, but Ostroushko were in the "Best of the Rest" by Sky Sports (best XV who aren't in semi final)

http://www1.skysports.com/rugbyworldcup ... 59/7236871
Quote:
14 Vladimir Ostroushko (Russia)

One of the rising stars in the Russian side and it would be a surprise not to see him given a chance in the Top 14, Aviva Premiership or RaboDirect PRO12. He scored tries against Australia and Italy and had a willingness to get involved at every opportunity.

The team :
1.Roncero (Arg) 2.Du Plessis (SA) 3.Castrogiovanni (Ita)
4.Albacete (Arg) 5.O'Connell (Irl)
6.J.Burger (Nam) 8.O'Brien (Irl) 7.Clever (USA)
9.Fotuali'i (Sam) 10.Airlidge (Jpn)
11.Hougaard (SA) 12.F.Steyn (SA) 13.M.Tuilagi (Eng) 14.Ostroushko (Rus)
15.Kearney (Irl)

Yenisey-STM 57 - 3 Batumi (XV?)

Quote:
Bezverkhov, D. Arhip, Pronenko;

Saulite, Butenko;

Serkov, Orlov, Rudoy;

Baranovs, Bambry;

Ya. Rechnev, Novikov, Bondarev, Ilyenko;

Kurashov

tries - Serkov (2), Rudoy (2), Ilyenko (2), Kurashov, Bambry, Starikov; conversions - Bambry (5), Novikov.

Is Pronenko's ban up then? Needs to be recalled to the national side ASAP. And hopefully Bambry decides to stay in Russia, should be eligible next year.

Yes it is, was mentioned he's being watched by KJ in the ENC squad announcement. As with others, they know what he can do, they need to check others and are quite happy to sacrifice wins in an ENC with no ramifications to do this.

Your use of the XV? reminds me of when they write soccer scores out after the number so people didn't think it is a rugby result. Whether a full-strength Ajarian side or not, it's a result reflective of the gap in leagues - the GRU only recently and belatedly realized they need a viable domestic structure if the country's rugby is to enjoy mid-long term growth.

Well I'm aware that they had some issues with the professional arm of the club so wasn't certain whether the Batumi XV name was still in use.

The Armia result will be more interesting in any case. Lots of Georgia's young talent in their ranks.
